Whatever Wednesday - WUNDERBAR!!!!
Let me set the stage for this post.
Late 1990's, I 'discovered' Eddie Izzard and brought him home (in the form of DVD's) and the girls and I watched his concerts over and over and over. We could repeat whole sections of his routines. Phrases like "I'm covered in bees!" and "Tea and cake or death?" filled our conversations.
Fast forward to 2019.
We saw he was coming to the United States on tour.
AND...
would be in Durham, North Carolina.

ON TEXTER'S BIRTHDAY!!!!
Mr. RaceCar gave Texter an early birthday present of three tickets to the concert!
So Monday we pulled Lady K out of school early and headed to Raleigh to drop her off at her other grandparents so they could babysit.
The day was bright and the temperature comfortable and we stopped for a bit of picnic lunch on our way to Raleigh.
After dropping off Lady K, we headed over to Durham.
As we walked from the parking garage to DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) we passed this building.
Little did we realize until we saw this...
why we were 'covered in bees!'
The home of Burt's Bees.
We arrived in plenty of time for the concert and enjoyed the comfortable temperatures outside, waiting for the doors to open.
And once the doors open we made it to our seats! And boy are we now spoiled!
We did grab t-shirts of the show...
AND THE SHOW WAS WONDERFUL!
Savvy summed it up when she said we were so close she felt like she was watching the show on DVD.
His message was about 'doing positive', but done in the endearing Eddie Izzard way of rambling stories and pantomime.
He looks fantastic! Fit and trim and great in a skirt and tights! Unfortunately, this may have been his last concert. Fortunately, he is going into politics back in Great Britain.
A great show, great weather, how could the evening get any better?
Some of the 'girls' Savvy has known from middle school and stays in touch with were also at the show. What a great group of accomplished, smart, talented young women who value their friendship over the years.
Of course, by the time we picked up Lady K and drove home, it was about 3 a.m. before my head hit the pillow. Luckily, with the mini-van, she was able to sleep on the way home.
Now to savor the show and be "Wunderbar"!
