Digital Art Tuesday - Roselle Mandala or Kaleidoscope?

According to various definitions, a kaleidoscope is a child's toy with rotating mirrors and pieces of colored glass, constantly changing patterns. A mandala is typically a circular, symmetric design and used for meditation and has a more religious aspect to it.

Mandalas are viewed as a representation of the universe or spiritual path. However, kaleidoscope can have a deeper meaning, representing the every changing universe.

For me, I call what I am doing mandalas. They are normally circular in design and symmetric. Creating my digital mandalas is very calming, soothing and grounding for me. I can get lost in the process and spend hours working on them.

In this case, the use of roselle calyx is important because hibiscus represents the Divine Feminine. As as I am older, and my 'bloom' time is over, the calyx is still worth a lot. While the hibiscus is used in many ways, from the leaves and flowers, to the seeds and calyx, it is the calyx I am after. I am drying mine to use for tea - both hot and iced.

Just a few thoughts on how to get lost in the world of mandalas and kaleidoscopes
