Food and Fiber Friday - Sewing and Such

With Christmas right around the corner, I'll be gearing up shortly to start my annual Christmas cookie and candy baking. Probably not as much as I have done in the past, but there is a lot of sugar in my future.

However, I have been spending some time at the sewing machine. Not finishing up the quilts I should be working on, but rather working on some quick projects.

This is the Grace Apron - a cross over apron which I made up a 'sample' off for possible future craft market sales. Super easy and it really works well if there is a large table cloth to be used. Foxy wants one for when she paints her miniatures. And I think it would also be great for house cleaning, in the kitchen or gardening. So I am considering making some for a friend to sell at craft fairs.

Earlier this week I picked up some curtains from a Goodwill.

In fact, I might go back and buy some more as there were tons of panels at the Goodwill. But these are a nice, slightly heavy, linen. And I have my eye on making this kimono for myself...

I did get the pattern on sale a few weeks ago, but I am also eyeing her eco-printing courses.

But I think the linen would work well for this kimono jacket. Right now I am thinking of making the body of the kimono out of both fabrics and then the collar out of the other fabric. I am loving the idea of using all kinds of fabric for the jacket. This way I know I won't see myself coming down the street because I shopped at the same place someone else did.

I need to rethread my serger (sigh), but I am also loving French seams to give the garment a more professional look.

There is a lot of things to be worked on before the end of the year!
