Positive Focus Thursday - On Friday - Give It Time
I will raise my hand as one of those people who want immediate results.
That being said, I will put in hours and hours working on a jigsaw puzzle, beading a Tudor-style gown with 2000 pearl beads, cross stitching a massive picture. But on a day-to-day existence, I want it now!
However, when dealing with some things, like plants, it ain't happenin'!
I have two cases I have been watching - impatiently - and after months of worry they wouldn't 'make it', once again Mother Nature pulls them through despite me.
The first one is my Meyer Lemon.
When I bought it last year, there was one lemon on it and leaves. As it sat at home in my window over the window the lemon slowly turned yellow and the leaves slowly fell off. To the point, I was afraid I was going to have Charlie Brown's Christmas tree for a lemon tree.
The lemon, once harvested, was huge, about the size of my fist and very juicy. And still, the leaves turned yellow and fell off. I went to the nursery where I bought it to see what I could do, only to find their trees were doing the same thing and they were in a greenhouse!

Currently, it has been repotted into a larger pot and I have 8 tiny lemons on it. I was still concerned about the lack of leaves.
However, the branches are becoming covered in yet more blossoms and tiny leaves are popping out! Slowly, but surely, "Michael" Meyer Lemon it coming back to leafy perfection!
Patience and faith were what was needed. Faith that it would operate on its time schedule, not mine.
Then there is 'Christine' peony - the poor peony I dug up and dragged from Montana in a totally unsuitable container, mistreated last summer dreadfully and was on the verge of throwing it in the trash.
The plant I thought was completely, absolutely a goner has surprised and delighted me.
Once again, I repotted the poor thing, believing it was an exercise in futility. Two shoots are up! I admit I did a little victory dance on the patio.
And then yesterday I noticed there is actually a third shoot coming up!
I do admit I am not expecting any flowers this year with the poor thing still a young plant. But there is hope for the future.
In today's world, we have become used to immediate results. Type something into our web browser and we want an immediate pop-up of results. Road rage can consume us as we try to navigate from point A to point B. I, for one, need reminders some things can't be rushed, no matter how much we want them to move along. Some things need to happen in their own time, not our time.
However...
My potatoes are starting to flower! Harvest time soon! HURRY UP POTATOES!
