Week in Review - Thoughts While Driving

The week has been pretty quiet. I changed internet provides and started a sewing class. It finally rained on my yard after weeks of avoiding it. In fact, the storm which came through on Friday afternoon knocked out the servers at my local library which is only a couple of miles from me.

On Sunday I drove down to see Lady K for a few minutes since she is starting school next this week. She has reached the age where school activities and social life is getting busy. Plus, she is living in an area with extensive extended family. I understand and accept the fact her weekends with me will be more limited. Luckily, I am welcome there, so I won't be completely out of touch with her.

So why does it not bother me to drive 2 hours in each direction to see her? Why does it not bother me to drive 4 hours to see Foxy? And WHEN Savvy gets her own store in Alabama (fingers crossed), 6 hours to see her.

Well...

It seems I do some of my best thinking in the car while driving.

I do listen to audio books or music. But most of the time I am thinking. And, if the girls are with me, we have been known to have some really interesting conversations. Like if zombies are trapped in snow - because everyone knows zombies and snow don't mix - if a bear eats them, does the bear become a zombie? Or does the zombie have to bite the bear in order to become a zombie bear?

Yes, we are know to have truly deep, meaningful conversations.

But alone in the car, I often work on the plot or scenes for the story I am working on. (Note to self - learn to use voice memos!)

Yesterday, on the drive back home, it was a drizzly rain. And I am on the backroads. A nice drive in the rain on the wooded roads heading home. I was listening to Eddie Izzard's audio book, Believe Me. I can't quite understand how I missed the book when it first came out in 2017. The audio book version is like attending a 16 hour show with him.

Anyway...

I had listened to it on the way down and was a bit tired of the noise. So what do I do? My thoughts got caught up on the terms 'conscious', 'conscience', 'unconscious' and 'subconscious'. I started wondering why 'subconscious' rather than either 'subconscience' or better yet, 'unconscious'.

Yep, I had about a 45 minute discussion with myself. Turns out 'subsonscience' isn't a word. And in psychoanalysis, it turns out, they prefer the use of 'conscious' and 'unconscious' to refer to a person's actions and emotions.

I agree with the use of the prefix 'un' rather than 'sub'. After all, it is 'do or undo', 'tie or untie', etc.

So yes, I do have some deep thoughts occasionally. Just not saying they are profound in any way.

(Note: My stance on the whole zombies in the snow and being eaten by bears - they have to actually be bitten by the zombie first. It's in the salvia. You can argue if the bears eat the zombie they are ingesting the salvia, but nope - has to get directly into their bloodstream first.)
