Week in Review - September 3 - 10, 2023

Last week was basically, well, a bust.

I had 'overworked' myself at work and my body said 'forget it'! So I took a day off to get some rest. I rested and the next day I was running a fever and my nose was running like an express train! More DayQuil and Benadryl that I should have taken, my nose FINALLY stopped.

Friday was a slow day and I went down to pick up Lady K for her weekend with us. I had spent the morning writing a couple of letters and a few postcards to throw in the mail. So it was a nice slow day.

And then there was Saturday!

I was going to go to Raleigh to see Eddie Izzard with Miss Texas. On the way there, I decided to run a few errands to tick some chores off my to-do list.

The first stop was, of course, filling up with gas and then at two library branches to pick up books. I also threw in a stop at Charlotte Yarn to pick up a 'knocker kit' for the 'Knit and Crochet Knockers Campaign'.

So the next 6 weeks will be spent knitting 'knockers' for breast cancer survivors which will be donated to the Levine Cancer Center. I do have to say, since I have started my first one already, the Berroco Modern Cotton (DK weight) is so soft and knits up beautifully.

Between Charlotte and Raleigh, I stopped to trade in books at McKay's Books. My big bag of books brought me more in trade credit than expected, so I was able to fill in gaps in a couple of authors I 'collect'.

Once in Raleigh (or Cary actually), Miss Texas and I went to Shanghai Alley for a quick dinner and then off to the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts to see...

Eddie Izzard!

The show was a 'remix' of sketches from his shows over the past 35 years. The venue was full, which was great. The audience was so diverse and people watching was also a lot of fun. My hope is that no one was there who was not versed in his past performances. The show was what it was billed as - a remix of old sketches, so you really needed to know the earlier shows in order to get a lot of what was going on. Of course, Miss Texas and I were well versed, so the show was a hit with us.

Sunday I had high hopes to get a lot checked off my list. However, since I didn't get home from Raleigh until 1:30am, it was a really slow day. Plus I had to take Lady K back home again.

Lady K and I had a great chat in the two hour drive back home. She is so much a mini-me of her Aunt Savvy it is spooky! We are planning a future 'soup' weekend, with her getting Pho and Potato Soup to take home.

This coming week...

  • REST! And get rid of this low grade fever and blood sugars down.
  • Write up posts and a couple of book blog tour posts which are coming up in the next few weeks
  • Finish up dishes in the kitchen
  • Knit and relax
  • Fix Cannoli Cake to take to the Rosemary and Thyme Herb Society Meeting for my birthday
  • MOW! (but that's later in the week)

But for now, I'll move from my desk to the chair in the living room and put my feet up some. Or maybe head back to bed for a bit.
