Creative Tuesday - Meet Some Of the Characters

Starting tomorrow, January 7, I will be starting a weekly serial story for your reading pleasure (I hope). The premise of the story is based on the Solo Role Playing Game (SRPG) Apothecaria by BlackwellWriter.

The game is based on the fact a witch/healer has going missing and my character has been sent to replace her. Not only is Anise Sweetgum, my character, foraging for herbs and healing local citizens (NPC's), but she is also going to be figuring out what happened to the missing witch.

So let me introduce you to some of the characters in The Adventures of Anise Sweetgum!

(Note: the following images have been created with the assistance of Firefly by Adobe. )

Meet Anise Sweetgum, the main character.

Anise is a 53 year old witch and the premiere instructor at the Hazelwood Academy. She entered the academy at 10 years of age, about 3 years earlier than most students, because of her talents already manifesting. After completion of her studies at 18 and at the top of her class, she remained at the academy to be an instructor. She was the Master of Tinctures, Potions, and Poisons. You didn't want to get on her bad side. While you might be cured, you might also pick up some odd side effects.

Because of a certain 'incident' which can not be overlooked, she has been sent to replace the missing witch. This is the first time in her life she has actually been outside the school environment and she is not really happy about the situation. In fact, to say she is a bit of a snarky, disgruntled witch is putting it mildly.

Nigel, the mule. Nigel and Anise have been together for several years. While Anise didn't travel during her years at the academy, she did go out often, riding Nigel, to forage for supplies. Nigel has the ability to find any place she needs going to without direction. However, for anyone else, where a person ended up would definitely not be someplace they wanted to go.

Weston Wellington III...

Yes, Weston is the third of his name and three times as dumb and three times less magical - in everyone's eyes but his parents. More on Weston tomorrow, but needless to say, he fell prey to the wrath of Anise.

Edmund Fenwick, a half-elf monk of the local gods and Anise's first patient upon arrival in High Rannoc.

Anise will also gain a familiar along the way...

Tipton is his name and he and Nigel are having difficulty getting along. While Nigel can bring Anise to anywhere she needs to go, Tipton has the ability to transport her there. Nigel can pull a wagon to enable Anise to camp out and/or bring back large loads. Tipton can only transport Anise with a small load. Tipton also has the ability to wander unseen, making him great for discovering all kinds of gossip, rumors and information. Depending on his mood, after all he is feline, he may or may not advise Anise of the information he has picked up.

So I hope you are as interested in finding out what happens in High Rannoc to Anise. I am excited about providing a weekly update. I find it fun to come up with the AI prompts to create a character or item which I can see in my mind, but now want to have a visual image. Not only am I excited about the story, but it will be a chance to establish a routine and have some accountability with my writing and digital art.
