Bookish Thursday - July TBR
I've been doing a bit of 'comfort' reading lately. Comfort as in going back and rereading all of the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I am currently on book #9 - Obsidian Butterfly. There are 30 books currently in this series. I did finish up rereading the 10 books in the Merry Gentry series in preparation of book 11 being released this fall.
On my July TBR...
I need to finish up this book by Shanna Pearson. So far I have found it to be very informative - both for myself and my 'roommates'.
Sitting on my shelf to be read in July is another T. J. Klune book...
I subscribed to Allurial - mainly to get their 'Morally Grey' cap - and it needs to be read.
A book which I had on Audible since it was first published back in 2013, is Shawn Speakman's The Dark Thorn.
I actually was fortunate enough to met Speakman in person at Miscon in Missoula, Montana back in the day. He is Terry Brooks webmaster and has been for decades now. I really enjoyed the book on audio. However, this is the first book in a proposed trilogy and he has edited it in preparation for the next 2 books. There was a special addition produced on Kickstarter and I backed it. Since it has been 13 years since I first read it, I think I need to revisit it.
Also on my TBR for July are 4 gardening books:
- Grow Great Vegetables in North Carolina by Ira Wallace
- Vegetable Gardening Wisdom by Kelly Smith Trimble
- The Creative Vegetable Gardener by Kelly Smith Trimble
- The New Natural Food Garden by Natalie Bogwalker and Chloe Lieberman
Since the above gardeners are fairly NC based - or close enough - these should be great reads when the temperatures hit 90 and above.
I am also on GLP-1 now to facilitate weigh loss (I'm a sugar addict and have issues...lol), I have several cookbooks on hold at the library I need to pick up to get some meal ideas. Sloppy Joes, tacos and potatoes, Lady K's favorites along with ice cream, will not cut it for me to hit my goal.
On my Kindle I am reading The Retired Assassin's Guide to Country Gardening by Naomi Kuttner. I love books with 'retired' MI5 or spies who are just trying to finish out their days without the past coming to haunt them. A cozy mystery with a few actual ghosts sprinkled in, so far it is turning out to be a fun read.
Plus, if you have Kindle Unlimited it's currently free to read.
Since there is a whole bookshelf of unread books, I am sure I will not have an issue finding something to read this summer. Hopefully, focusing on reading rather than doom scrolling will get me back on track with my Goodreads goal of 200 books this year.
