Bookish Thursday - What's Been Read Recently

Well, I am happy to say I am a tad over the halfway point on my reading goal of 200 books for the year. With a secondary goal of reducing my weigh, I have been going through some cookbooks for ideas, especially ones where I can make breakfasts and lunches to take to work to keep me on track. One thing I have learned while being off the past week is I find it easier to stick to my eating plans when working than when I am at home all day.

Lady K, who now has her own library card, and I braved the heat on Monday and went to the library to swap out books. She is into gory blood-and-guts reading and manga. Luckily, my library has a great teen section, so off she goes. This last time she had her phone out and was soliciting recommendations from friends - so we will see.

I grabbed a couple of gardening books and a couple of Natalie Goldberg writing books for inspiration. There are a couple of thrillers and cozy mysteries included in the haul too.

Since the Tour de France runs in the mornings, I will be listening to that rather than my audio books for the next couple of weeks. Maybe. Or I can come home and watch the TDF replay - not sure which way I will go.

There are also two book reviews which I have agreed to do in August and September, which is fun. Especially since I will be hosting a guest post from the two authors along with my review.

Reading is a great way to escape the heat, as well as the digital world (unless I am on my e-reader).

Oh, and did I mention we HAD to detour via the snow cone place for a banana snow cone on the way home?
