Home and Garden Friday - Garden Update

This was a harvest earlier in the week. Today harvest, has the basket overflowing.

Due to the heat and the damn leaf-footed bug, not to mention my yard needing bush-whacking, things look a little sad. I feel like I am the portal for the entry of those damn bugs. Luckily, I have found any tomato horn worms - yet.

But this morning, there is a dutch over 3/4 full of small cucumbers where I am attempting to make 'sweet gherkins'. It's like a 4 day process, so it will be interesting to see the results. Or rather taste the results.

I put 4 quarts of tomato sauce in bags in the freezer this week too. I will probably go back, when I have more canning to do and integrate them into actual canning jars. I can use that space in the freezer for something else.

Speaking of freezer space, I think I have created a 'monster'. Savvy texted me about her making lavender popsicles. And since I am supposed to be watching what I eat and pack in the protein, I made some plum-yogurt popsicles with the Toka plums I pureed from my tree. I added the puree to vanilla Greek yogurt and made the first round of popsicles. Even Foxy like them - but wanted them a bit sweeter.

Then I got some chocolate and caramel 'drizzle' in the ice cream section and Lady K made some chocolate-caramel-yogurt popsicles. Not as 'sugar-less' than I am aiming for, but they are tasty.

Hopefully, I can get outside without passing out and do a bit of yard work over the next 3 days I am off work. However, we are supposed to be getting some rain. So I'll take the rain over a mowed yard!
