Bookish Thursday - New Books This Month and August Reading

Ten books have been added to my shelves this month. Luckily, only three of the ten I bought. The three which I added with my dollars are the three tarot books. I really want to delve deeper into my tarot study.

Of the remaining seven books, the top two books are ones which I have received from WOW-Women on Writing for an upcoming book blog tour. One is a children's book about Halloween and Santa (fun) and the other one is one book publishing. There is another book on it's way for another book blog tour.

The book, The Familiar Volume 5, is one I picked up at the library off their free book cart. It's one of those mixed media type books. Of course, now I have to read books 1-4 in order to read this book. It may get passed on without reading.

The remaining four books are ones I 'won' off Goodreads. I had signed up for Emily Thiede's book, This Cursed Light, and they not only sent me that book, but also book one in the series. Really nice. Yippie Girl is a memoir of the 60's which should be interesting. And then The Resemblance is a mystery.

I have fallen down a rabbit hole this month too. By watching 'Dark Winds' on TV, I have gone back and am listening to the Tony and Ann Hillerman mysteries. They are fairly quick listens, usually one or two days at work. I am also going back and picking up Kelley Armstrong and Kim Harrison books I've missed reading when they came out.

So far this month I have finished 12 books, 4 of which I abandoned or DNF. I currently have 2 audio books on my phone and countless books beside my desk and bed to read.

I have been pretty ruthless on DNF books this month. If they don't capture my attention fairly quickly, gone! What I do not do on the books I start and don't finish is to rate them. I don't think it would be fair to rate them when much of the time the book doesn't fit my 'mood' at the moment.

Lots of reading going on with this long, hot summer.
