Week in Review - December 19 - 25, 2022

Well, this week has been a real roller coaster!

First off, the temperatures took a real plunge as Winter Storm Elliott pushed through. It was more like Montana in the winter for a couple of days, but without the snow. We got rain instead.

And highlighted the fact my yard looks like crap! And some pathways are needing to be installed in 2023. However, while I get down on my self that the yard looks awful, at least I don't have 8 cars sitting on my lawn. So it's a win-win!

But last Wednesday evening into Thursday afternoon, it was rainy, rainy, rainy! By Christmas Eve we were in the single digits with a negative wind chill factor. Luckily, there was no moisture with the arctic air moving in.

Friday I had to go into work, even though it was supposed to be my day off. I was really looking forward to a 4 day weekend, but what can you do. Especially since I was suckered into getting the latest World of Warcraft expansion! However, it has been so much fun playing again.

It hasn't been all bad weather and WOW this past week.

I sat down with all my 'plans' and 'ideas' for 2023 and instead of putting them on sticky notes on the wall, I wrote them on index cards. This way I can go through and pull out what is relevant and make a sticky note to put into my planner. I have found if I put them on a Kanban board on the wall they get ignored. Easily. So now I'll try putting them more into my sightline so I can focus more easily on them.

There is still a couple of things I need to get done before the new year starts, but I'm focused and rearing to go!

Something interesting was 'found' however this past week.

On Thursday, despite the rain, I needed to run a couple of errands and get my hair trimmed. Lazy me had left one of my winter coats in the car and I didn't want to go upstairs to get another one, so I grabbed my black cashmere dress coat out of the closet.

I haven't worn the coat since moving back to North Carolina and being a dressy coat I really didn't wear it much in Montana. I'm pretty sure Savvy was the last person to wear the coat because I found this in the pocket.

Yep, an iPod Shuffle from 2005! She was still using it in 2017. However, since then the batteries are definitely DOA. I'm sure she figured between the fire and the move back to North Carolina, it got lost in the 'shuffle'!

It will be packaged up and sent to her in Arizona. I'll let her figure out if she wants to try replacing the battery in it or not.

Of course, on Friday afternoon, the winds were howling. And knocked out my internet. The 'foreign' agent told me it would be Tuesday before a technician would be out. Unacceptable, especially since I knew it had nothing to do with my house. They came out Saturday morning and sure enough, the issue was up the street at the terminal and a bucket truck was needed. So my internet was up and down all day Saturday. Luckily, my phone plan comes with a personal hot spot which is strong enough to power me playing WOW all day!

Otherwise this week...

  • Filled out my budget sheets for January, so ready to go there
  • Have my over-arcing plans for 2023 on index cards and ready to go
  • Rested some
  • Set up my garden notebook and my seed inventory

This coming week...

  • Get my January TBR list going (I have 4 book blog tours in the next 6 weeks)
  • Pull the seeds needed for my 12-week from last frost date to have ready to go
  • Work on clearing off the stairs and pulling the last of the stuff from the downstairs closet which will become my 'greenhouse'.

But for now, it's more hot coffee, bundling up and off to work.
