Week in Review - April 24 - 30, 2023

Ok...what a week!

Can you say 'Rain'?

Because that's what has been happening most of the week. Luckily, it has been rain which has been a steady drizzle rather than a storm. But lots and lots of rain. Fortunately, looking ahead, the next week has been showing increasing temps (into the 70's) and little, if any, rain.

That being said, little gardening has been done. But what has been planted seems to be doing quite well without my input.

Thursday was a full day. My friend, Miss Texas, drove over from Raleigh. Actually she needed to be out of the house for the day as the exterminator was spraying, so since our meet-ups kept being canceled (by me), she came to me. We had a delightful chat for a couple of hours before she had to leave and I headed to my Master Gardener class.

The Master Gardener class was a fun 'propagation' class. I came home with a couple of different types of hostas, which is a big surprise for me. I have always shied away from them. I also have several iris to plant around the herb bed. And I will not mention the number of tomatoes I have yet to plant.

Saturday was busy, busy, busy!

In the morning it was setting up a plant sale for the Rosemary and Thyme Herb Society at the Living History Day in Belmont. I also 'supported' our group by buying plants (sigh).

Then it was off to get a haircut, grab something to eat and head north about 20 miles to the Western Carolina Homebrewers Festival.

I had volunteered for the event and was a pourer for one of the clubs. Actually, if the truth be known, I was the only pourer!

I was fortunate enough to be assigned to work for the Cabarrus Homebrewers Society. Actually, I knew one of the members already as he works part time for Alternative Beverage where I get my brewing supplies. One of the members had brought a mead! OMG! I love it. A mead, flavored with orange peel and basil. I came home with a small bottle full.

Otherwise this week...

  • Finished 3 books
  • Wrote 5 posts
  • Got my haircut
  • Worked 5 days

This coming week...

  • Assisting in setting up and selling at the Master Gardener Group of Gaston County Annual Plant Sale
  • Attending the next to the last Master Gardener class
  • Picking up Lady K for the weekend
  • GARDENING!
  • Writing a book blog tour post

But for now, going to straighten up the front yard so that hopefully, after work, I can come home and mow some.
