Now for my opinion (which is the important part, right!)

I can't even begin to tell you how many books on writing I have read over my lifetime. Dozens would be a conservative estimate. A couple of things I enjoy about reading about writing is, one, I get inspired to write from reading them. Secondly, I keep hoping for that 'secret', magical wand thing which will transport me to finishing what I am writing.

This book came really close to meeting that magical wand.

The first part of the book is about the 'why' you need to write your book. It talks about comparing yourself to other writers and why you shouldn't. But one of the biggest take-aways from the book for me was being a writer with ADHD and how that effects how you write. While I have not be officially diagnosed as to having ADHD, so many of my habits in life have pointed to that over the years. I was encouraged by the fact I have fewer starts than the author has. Now I just need to finish one of them!

The second part of the book moves through more fundamental things which happen as you write and what you need to do after the book is completed. I really enjoyed they were very brief - almost bullet points - and gave me options as to whether or not I am going traditional publishing or self-publishing. She covers everything from finding an agent, editing and editors, and promoting your book(s).

I will probably go back and buy a physical copy of this book so I can underline, highlight and tab pages. Yes, I know I could do it on my e-book copy. But I am a bit old school and like having a real book in my hands to reference.

So if you are writing your book or thinking about writing a book or story, check this book out.

Here is some more opinions on the book...
