Bookish Thursday - Until Next Sunday by Audry Fryer

It's time for another book review with WOW! Women on Writing

But first, for the 'business'...

And now for my opinion...

First, what prompted me to read this book was the fact it was based on letters being written between Rosina and Gianni. Being a letter writer and a letter saver, 100 letters were used to bring their story to life was compelling.

Secondly, having thought about being an ex-pat, the idea of moving to a different country is always interesting. I can't imagine the amount of courage it takes to climb onto a boat and sail to another country, knowing you may never see your family again.

But this story has another twist. Upon arriving in America, Rosina becomes sick and is send to a hospital. After a stay there, with visits from Gianni, she is sent away to yet another hospital to complete her recuperation. Months separate the couple and the letters are written between the two as he can only visit on Sundays.

Then yet another move to another hospital would separate the young couple for even more miles. Would Rosina and Gianni ever have a life together?

The read was pleasant and I ached for the couple and for the confusion Rosina must have felt being in a strange country and in a hospital.

Overall, it was a good read, actual letters interspersed with the narrative of the story.
