Week in Review - December 6 - 12, 2021

Well...

I have been up to my 'old gig' this past week. That being to-go. They are short handed, so I worked 4 out of my 5 days there this past week. I've realized on thing...

Standing and cutting fruit for 5 hours is much less taxing that 5 hours of constantly walking! You would think being on your feet is being on your feet. It wouldn't matter if you were moving or not. Wrong! Anyway, I have a couple more days next week in to-go. Luckily, they are only 4 hour shifts.

That being said, the REAL excitement this past week was the expansion of my 'family'! I did a 'thing' and brought home 2 kittens. Yep, two!

So now the head count at my house is 4 cats, 3 of which are still kittens, and 1 huge dog, which is still a puppy, and me.

The all black kitten is Nox, named for the spell used in Harry Potter to turn off the light on your wand. The other is Regulus Black, called Reggie for short. Regulus was Sirius Black's younger brother in the books. However, both of the newbies are girls. So Domino is outnumbered by females in the feline countdown.

Everyone has settled in nicely and evenings on the couch are interesting. Luckily, I have a large sofa!

I am also been playing with my book journal for 2022 and have moved into another notebook (I think). Actually, I think my issue is I have been watching too many videos on YouTube about book journals and am attracted to the new, shiny thing. We'll see how it goes.

Cooking has also been on the 'menu'. I did a large batch of spaghetti sauce with meatballs. I didn't make the meatballs myself, they were on sale. But most of it went to Savvy. She and Mr. Arizona would enjoy them more. But I have had 3 meals out of them so far and have enough for another meal or two. Or to throw in the freezer for a later date.

Costco buys have also been on the menu. I had bought their Chicken Fried Rice which comes in handy single serving packets. And some chicken and vegetable dumplings. The two made for a very, very good meal. Plus it was quick and easy.

And with my Phalaenopsis orchids putting out flower spikes (5 of the 6 so far), and two other varieties of orchids in flower, my Chysis limminhei is also creating a flower spike (I hope). The Phals should bloom in February probably, as it takes a while to go from flower spike to actually flowering. The same with the Chysis. So I'm a very happy plant mom right now.

Otherwise this week...

  • Pineapple Upside-Down cake to work
  • Posted all 7 days last week
  • Was selected for another book review blog tour for March
  • Started setting up my 2022 budget notebook
  • Nice phone call last Monday from a good friend
  • Walked 17.9 miles
  • Finished 5 books

This week...

  • Trip to Raleigh on Thursday (hopefully)
  • Working on my vision board for 2022
  • Setting up projects for 2022 (or at least for the first quarter of the year)
  • Writing posts for the week
  • Prepping for massive cookie baking the following week
  • Menu planning

But for now, it's more coffee and adding straightening up the office supply closet from kitten destruction.
