Writing Wednesday - 2021 Lineup of Planners and Journals

On Sunday I received my 2021 Budget Book from The Budget Mom. Actually, it is a set of monthly booklets, which I am really excited about.

So now my planner and journal 'collection' is ready for 2021. And who isn't ready for 2021 to come around, right!

The spiral bound notebook is my 2020 budget workbook. It has done so much for keeping me sane and solvent this year. The 'green' book is my 2021 journal. The beige is my 2021 main planner and the black/white is my post tracker/word count tracker for 2021.

Currently, this is what my journal looks like for 2020.

It's sad. From what I have been seeing there are two camps on journaling this year. Those who are writing copious amounts and those, like me, which can barely stand to record anything. But the past few weeks I have been doing more.

So I treated myself to a new journal. I am going to 'retired' this one, even though there will probably be some pages left in it. I want to start 2021 fresh and strong.

It was on sale at Barnes and Noble and I love the color. It's a green/gold embossed leather. Unfortunately, it isn't refillable, but that's just fine. But green for growth and gold for abundance. So hopefully 2021 will be filled with abundant growth.

I also think I have solved a problem I have been wrestling with - word count.

I decided I needed to include my blog post word counts into tracking my daily word count. That is when I start getting/doing a daily word count. I especially was for this when I realized writing 3 posts last week garnered me 1220 words for the day!

So my plan is to just open a blank document every day, or when I actually do some writing, and copy/paste my writing to it, in the case of posts I write. My novel writing I will take from that document. Then I will enter the total into my post tracker/idea book.

I took my unused 2020 Day Free planner from Hobonichi and turned it into a blog post 'accountability' book. I started it about a month ago and find it really useful to note what should be posted daily. I have room for notes, picture ideas and the like. Plus, in the case of blog tours when I am set a date in the future, I can note it and have it all set without rushing or, Goddess forbid, forget about it.

The system has worked really well, especially where I want to do follow-up posts on something, like my 'Encyclopedia of Me' posts.

But what I am including in the 'notes' section of the planner is a word count tracker. Something quick and easy to do. Kate Cavanaugh, a writer on YouTube is trying to write 1 million words in a year. It was an interesting idea. I don't think I will come close, but it would be interesting to see where I stand, word-count wise, at the end of 2021.

I do have a couple of other journals/planners in the set-up stage.

I HAVE to do a garden journal. I really want all my gardening 'stuff' in one stop. My wish list of plants, seeds I want and/or have, plans, a calendar when I need to start seeds, etc.

And most importantly, getting my novel information all in one spot.

But for now, I am happy with where I stand on going into 2021.
