Positive Focus Sunday - Journaling Power - A Blog Tour
I have journaled on and off for years. Ok, make that decades. We won't go into my brief entry in high school on how BG kissed me behind the church fellowship hall while in high school.
Journaling for me has covered many angles - from a place to record what is going on in my life, dealing with emotional situations, like divorce, and just the pure joy of writing, pen to paper. In storage at the moment is a trunk full of various notebooks where I have journaled over the years.
So when WOW-Women on Writing offered me this opportunity to read and review Mari L. McCarthy's book, Journaling Power - How to Create the Happy, Healthy Life You Want to Live, I jumped at the opportunity.
A bit about the book and the tour...

She starts the book with talking about her journey to journaling and what she was going through at the time she started. She also discusses a bit about the science behind how journaling is effective and the studies done on the positive aspects of journaling.
Personally, I know when going through a bad time, I feel a great sense of relief and release when I journal.
But when she referenced Julia Cameron and Morning Pages, I was hooked! I had just started up on writing morning pages again, mainly because I just bought Cameron's latest book, The Listening Path.
This past month has been a bit crazy for me. The old saying, 'when it rains, it pours' has hit the nail on the head. In this case, I started an intensive online course on self-publishing, in additional to working through some spiritual, witchy class things. AND decided this was the right time to start house hunting!
So my journaling has been about my old mindset of financial failure, how I'm not worthy of getting a house of my own, just being tired of trying to juggle work and all the other things I want to do. Throw in a cold, rainy month and journaling has really helped pull me through February into March and springtime without going completely off the rails!
The book is short, only 135 pages, but it is packed with a lot of information and journaling exercises after every chapter. You could sit down and read the whole book in one sitting if you wish. But I would suggest you get a notebook and pen and take it one chapter at a time and think about the journaling exercises and answering the questions.
This is a book I am glad I have on my shelf.
Now for the really exciting part!
If you are interested in your own copy, I have one to give away! Please leave a comment below and I'll select one winner on April 4.
