Whatever Thursday - Rockin' It!
With Lady K with us this week, Texter splurged and we went to Elijah Mountain Gem Mine on Monday.
On the way there, Lady K stayed under my coat I wear at work in order to keep the sun off the iPad. It was like driving 1.5 hours with a ghost sitting next to me.
We got the Big Honkin' Tub and Lady K was more interested in digging for 'big rocks' than actually rinsing off the sand of the smaller rocks. That was apparently what I was there for.
This is one of the crystal clusters she unearthed out of the tub. There was a slightly smaller one and a large geode which we had cracked open for us.
After playing with the rocks, we walked around to see a couple of new features they have installed since the last time we were there.
They have installed a pond with metal dinosaurs around it. It's cool. They are still working on it, so it will be fun to see how it evolves.
Also new, is a large outdoor pen with game birds (a couple) and a pair of peacocks.
What's not to love about the colors of a male peacock?
Luckily we had arrived just as they opened and it wasn't crowded. A couple of hours later it was filling up rapidly with families arriving for a day out.
But now I have a couple of filled punch cards for dollars off our next visit. I see another big tub in our future.
