And now my opinion...

There were a couple of reasons I wanted to review this book.

First, Lady K is 9 (soon to be 10) and loves drawing and over the past year has really discovered a love for reading. She also enjoys creating stories. So I wanted to share this book with her and encourage her combine her drawing with stories and/or poems.

The second, and the one that makes me giggle, is Savvy (who just turned 32) HATES gnomes. Of course, being the loving, caring mother that I am, I have been known to type large pictures of gnomes on her bedroom door. Or hide statues of them in plants. Sharing is caring right?

Now about the book itself.

I am sharing the book, a poem at a time. Lady K and I will share our ideas on the topic of the poem. The poems are simple enough, even a beginning reader would be able to read them. And then talking about the accompanying pictures and the poem lead to some great moments.

This is a fun book to share with a little one in your life. It can also be a launch point for an older child to encourage them to illustrate their own thoughts or poems.

So funny about Savvy and gnomes! Ha! Fear not, the book just hints at gnomes. But, you know, if these are poems that even gnomes read, hopefully everyone will find a splash of sunshine in it! Thanks and sending warmest regards, Raven.
