Writing Wednesday - 'Book Scoot', Encouragement and a Blog Post Sheet
Last Saturday I went to Camp North End for a 'book scoot' sponsored by That's Novel Books. It was my birthday and the weather was fantastic, so I figured how could I not wander around and take a look at what local indie authors had to offer.
There were 8 authors at the 'book scoot'. Two of the authors were for kids, so the other 6 were right up my reading alley. And because it was my birthday, I bought their books. After all, how could I not support my local, indie authors?
Every one of them, when I mentioned I was 'attempting' to actually finish a book, were extremely encouraging. They were all super nice, but very sweet when it came to telling me to FINISH and join them on a future 'book scoot'.
So...
Besides working on my Seven Deadly Murders during NaNoWriMo, with a bit of the cookbook memoir thrown in, I am going to read the books I purchased from my birthday book haul. Hopefully, I will have a chance to read all of them by the end of the year. Then I will do a post on each author and review their book. Seems fair, especially since many offered me the opportunity to contact them if I had any questions about being an indie author.
I have also been using a 'blog post tracker' created by Alexa, Miss Trenchcoat, which was part of a bundle I purchased. I have ideas for posts and haven't had a convenient way to keep track of them and to schedule them. Batching post writing works for me very well, but I often don't feel like I have a grip on it.
I set up sheets for the rest of September and then for each month through the end of the year. It's amazing what I already have on tap for posts! I think it will also help me build a more consistent writing habit.
Lots of reading and writing through the end of year! What a great way to start autumn.
