Positive Focus Sunday - A Good Harvest Day

While it seemed like a good think to make a 'run' to Savannah to take Foxy some stuff all in one day, my body told me yesterday - it was a dumb idea! Will I do it again? Probably. Since I was going to be traveling home at o'dark hours, I took Slider with me. He was happy to be out of the house/yard, but in the end I think he got over his excitement of being in the car for 8 hours.

Anyway...

This was one of my views as I went out to do a bit of a harvest. I wanted to cut back the tub of chocolate mint to dehydrate today.

About 6 weeks ago I brought home this container from Foxy. The two mints in the container were barely there. Came home and planted a Quick Snack Cucumber in there and put it in the sun and the chocolate mint exploded.

So a basketful of cuttings to put in the dehydrator. I know I could air dry, but with 3 cats and 2 dogs, I would rather control what I can.

But this is my harvest this morning.

I think some blackberry-sage jelly is in my future. Along with some pickled peppers. And more lettuce and various herbs to add in. I have some Raspberry Dressing Sorrel to try out in my salad. And I am planning on converting some tomato sauce I canned into pizza sauce with the fresh herbs and garlic.

But the peace and joy I get from walking through my yard harvesting. It overcomes the amount of weeds and grasses which need to find somewhere else to live.
