Food and Fiber Friday - Sewing Getting Done and It's Spooky!
Yesterday, after my morning viewing of Tour de France was over, I headed over to the building where the quilting group for my extension office meets. And I sewed for about 7 hours. And ate - they had a baked potato bar for dinner.
I cut out 40 blocks for a quick and easy quilt top to polish off more of the Halloween fabric I have hoarded. And I did get all 40 finished and laid out. So today, while watching TDF, I'll sew the blocks together. Then it will be figuring out the backing.
The patchwork skirt I started for Foxy is finished.
Loving the look of the skirt. And it is a heavy piece of clothing and so, so full. But I am happy that I figured out the pattern and made it and it is now ready to turn over to Foxy.
I have the final piece to add to some blocks for an Elizabeth Hartman quilt pattern. I am making this quilt with a selection of batik fabrics. I have to say, at this point, I am not thrilled with it. There are a lot of 'fiddly' pieces. But I have it to a point I am ready finish up on it. At least the top will be done and off my to-do list.
Also on my sewing table - or rather in boxes in the bedroom - is fabric samples. I plan on making myself a quilted patchwork coat. I am so going to be making some purses, tote bags, planner covers and pencil pouches. Most of these will be for Christmas presents.
But I feel good about my sewing recently. I have joined in with a great group of women who quilt together several times a week. Top of my list is to get training on the long arm quilter which will be available to me.
Today - more TDF while sewing blocks together. Then errands for the week. And praying for some rain to fall on my yard.
