Week In Review - February 11-17

Snow, snow, and more snow....sigh.

I know the minute we made the decision to move back to North Carolina, my tolerance for the white stuff went to zero. But I think even native Montana residents are a bit over it now. Problem is, we need the snow to combat forest fires the rest of the year.

(Aside - the rabbit...that's Nibbles - Lady K's friend)

So I throw out bird seed and lay out carrots and lettuce. And try to get over the fact the winds have picked up and it is supposed to be snowy all day. Double sigh!

My 'bright spot' these days is the fact several of my orchids are in various stages of getting ready to bloom. So I have something to look forward too. I would really like to repot the whole lot of them, but can't while they are getting ready to bloom and don't want to mess with them until after the shock of being moved to North Carolina.

Another reason for my 'yuck mood' is over the past few years my blood sugar levels have been creeping up. Now I really, really, really need to get on the stick and up my exercise and cut down on my sugar. Actually, I have to figure out how to cut down in some areas so I can still have my sweet tea (maybe make it a little less sweet?). I know me. Tell me to cut it out completely and you can take me out and shoot me. It's still at the stage where I can do something and stay off medication. So, triple sigh!

And to top it off, Texter has been having some health issues the past week and when she saw one specialist this week, he totally blew her off. As in, walked in the door, said: "see your doctor" and left. While it definitely didn't help her physically, it really added to the mental weight of not knowing what is going on. But we see her 'regular doctor' on Monday and hopefully get some answers.

Otherwise this week:

  • Mailed out 10 letters and on target for InCoWriMo so far
  • Lady K had a Valentine's Day party at school
  • Made a couple of Nutella Hearts for Texter and Savvy to take to school and work
  • Crocheted on my Octopus Hat and to the 'sucker' part
  • Finished 5 books
  • Made Tuscan Chicken Mac and Cheese, a new hit at home
  • Cleaned out my pile of magazines from this month
  • Did a health screening at the hospital

For the coming week:

  • Finish up the Octopus Hat. I have at least 3 'curls' hat and one 'troll' hat to start on, in addition to another Octopus Hat!
  • Catch up on my journal - doing some collage pages and maybe getting my head in a better space
  • Watch more Olympics while crocheting
  • Go through my exercise DVD's and pick out a couple to work out to this week.
  • Meal planning for the week
  • Hope the roads clear up enough to make it to Missoula for a day trip. I need this mentally if nothing else!

But in the meantime, more coffee with at least 1 less teaspoon of sugar!
