Week in Review - August 12 - 18

The week seems to have been centered around Lady K and the final countdown to school starting.

Friday, we attended a function at Discovery Place Kids for "Countdown to Kindergarten".

While we did meet a couple of the kindergarten teachers from Hornet's Nest Elementary, most of the time there was spent playing.

We received the 'letter' from the school and have her approximate bus times and how they are working the kindergarten classes.

I was a bit miffed about a staggered start and she wouldn't go on Monday, but rather on Wednesday, the first week. But as it turns out, they evaluate the kids, then on Thursday evening at the open house, they give the assignments. This way they can best fit the child to the class. Hmmm....impressed already.

Of course, in the meantime, even with trips to Concord Mill Outlet Mall for a look around, chores still need to be done.

She made my stomach hurt watching her empty the washing machine. She leans over and her feet leave the stool and she balances on her stomach and pulls out clothes. Of course, I have to be there to take them and put them in the dryer.

Now, if only I can keep this going for another 15 years or so!

But she needs some downtime.

She wanted to 'sew'.

And knit, all at the same time. So we are learning to crochet a bit first. She is practicing, but I think she has watched me way too much! Feet up and knitting (or cross stitching) in hand and watching TV.  Guess there are worse habits to pick up.

Otherwise this week...

  • Four posts written
  • Five books written
  • Practiced free motion quilting
  • One dress 99% finished
  • Yard mowed and a trip to the sprayground to cool off

This week brings...

  • Finish outside of Watergarden Mandala
  • Quilt the Disney Villains quilt
  • Pull out the Mariner's Compass quilt and figure out where I am
  • Review 101 Things
  • Day trip to Raleigh to visit with Miss NC
  • Wrapping up supplies for the start of school

But for now, more coffee!
