Bookish Thursday - Setting Up for August Reading
My reading for the past few months has been all over everywhere. Thus, I have a HUGE stack of books piling up on my shelves - some from the library and some are mine.
Therefore I am trying to get 'organized' again with my reading. There are TONS of books on my shelves that I need to get to. Not to mention books I'm getting from the library. So here is what I am anticipating for August...
Yep...a lot of reading to get through.
However, I know, based on my past reading, a few of these I will start and abandon because they don't suit me at all. I just finished up The Atlas Paradox by Olivie Blake.
Olivie Blake has been 'all the thing' since The Atlas Six came out. I read the book. It was ok, not great, but ok. I just finished up book two in the series and I was so bored throughout the whole thing. However, I do own the first two books and book three will be out in January, 2024. So I figure I will get it and slog through it. I'm really not expecting much.
Not that Blake's writing is bad in any way. It's just not for me. I've returned a couple of her other books without reading them because I'm just not a fan. That's allowed. Not every writer, regardless of how popular, is for everyone.
The five books laying horizontally are my own books, not library books. Three of them are nonfiction and I have been slowly going through them. The other two are fiction, one of which I've started already.
The above two books are my books and are part of series. I have asked for them on audio so I can listen to them at work. I figure I can get through 4-5 hours of listening during a day at work. The Pierce Brown series I really, really need to plow through as book 6 will be arriving at my house in a couple of days and I would like to be caught up by the end of the year and finished with the six book series.
I need to get the third book in the Fonda Lee series (and repurchase book one - a reminder not to loan out books to some people).
The stack of library books are from browsing the shelves or seeing them recommended during a YouTube video. I know the Nora Roberts will be a quick read, so that will knock the stack down some.
I also need to be using my Kindle more. I can't even begin to calculate the number of books I have to read on it. So I may set up something like 'read on the porch with the Kindle' or something like that. I just download a Kelley Armstrong novella, so maybe that will make me pick up the Kindle more.
Anyway, an enormous pile, but exciting at the same time. Let the reading begin!
The Book That Wouldn’t Burn caught my eye! You have a couple of healthy stacks! I just finished The Wishing Game and Hello Stranger (fun light read) and am starting Saint Maybe. My stack is huge!
