Week in Review - August 26 - September 1

It's been an interesting week getting Lady K into school and settled. How they do it here is really smart, but I just wanted it done and over with.

First, the kindergarten kids are divided into 3 groups based on their last names. Then they go to school over 3 days. Of course, Lady K, being an "S", went on Wednesday. After a pouting 2 days of watching the bus come and go, we took her to school Wednesday morning. Everything went fine until we left and she got a bit tearful, but one of the teachers had her sit with a couple of other little girls and she was fine.

Then, Thursday they were off!

And we had to go to school for an open house to find out her actual teacher.

But that was ok because we got to see her classroom and all the cool stuff in there. Plus, paperwork about the class and how things will be done were put directly in our hands.

Friday was her first full, real day at school and she caught the bus in the morning and returned nicely in the afternoon.

But then there's Labor Day, so a long weekend.

Let's get a routine started already!!

However, in between all the to/from school and another interview for a library job, I did manage to get the Watergarden Mandala finished as far as DMC floss is done. It's been washed and dried and pressed and on a frame now to start the specialty stitches, silk threads and beads. But I am working on the gates and it uses gold metallic thread which has attracted Lady K's attention.

Otherwise this week...

  • Got my hair and Lady K's haircut
  • Finished 7 books
  • Wrote 4 posts
  • Ordered the fabric for and starting pulling threads for a MASSIVE cross stitch project
  • Tried to start a routine for housecleaning
  • A trip to Farmer's Market which is so much better on Saturdays

The coming week...

  • Put together my 'free' IKEA bookcase for my craft room to hold my quilting, sewing, knitting, art journaling books
  • Work on the Watergarden Mandala
  • Pull threads and fabric for 'Electra'
  • Keep my fingers crossed I will get a part-time position at the library
  • Have the repair person come to fix the garage door opener (I'm so spoiled after only a few months of having a garage and an automatic garage door opener.)
  • Donate blood on Saturday

But in the meantime, more coffee and fighting with someone who feels laying in the middle of my desk is exactly what needs to be done.
