Writing Wednesday - My Desk and Reading Stash
One of the best things about having my own home now is having this desk!
I have wanted a roll-top desk for decades. And this is one I found on the curb right before I moved in with Savvy and Mr. Arizona. Needless to say, there wasn't any room for it. It's huge!
But now it's in the corner of my bedroom, which is nice and big. Slowly, but surely, it's getting 'organized' and I love sitting here and planning, writing, taking notes and just relaxing.
Soon it will be command central for writing my books and doing the other things which need to be done to release them into the world.
However, before I moved, I was looking for another 'series' to read since I have finished with Brandon Sanderson's books.
I saw a trailer for the new 'Dune' movie coming out this year. And I decided to go back and read the first book. It was then I discovered I was WAY behind on reading Dune. There were 6 books in the series. And then...
I found out Frank Herbert's son, Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson (whom I have met at MisCon) have written prequels and other books based on the Dune world.
While awaiting to move, I did manage to finish the first two books of the prequels and am into book 3. I am really enjoying seeing how things I know happen in Dune are being set up. Having the back stories of the main characters is fun and interesting.
One thing though - these books are HUGE! As in 700 plus pages in each book. So this is a task not for the faint of heart.
But I haven't confined myself to Dune.
I have 4 books physically checked out from the library. And 3 books checked out electronically. I also have a book I need to finish reading for a blog tour later this month (need to move that to the top of the pile). Plus I have two YA books I received from Fairy Loot, in addition to the latest Estelle Ryan ebook and 2 ebooks I won off Goodreads. So there will be a lot of reading time in between unloading boxes.
I guess you can understand why I need more bookcases in the new house.
