Bookish Thursday - Two Favorite Authors
March is ending on a high note!
Two of my favorite authors have released books in their series.
The first one this month was Anne Bishop's, The Queen's Price, which follows characters from her Black Jewels series.
This series was recommended to me years ago by a friend of Savvy's. And I have adored them ever since. Set in a fascinating world where magical powers and the power behind the magic are determined by the color of the 'jewel' you are born with. It follows the growth of 'Witch' and those of her court and others in the world. Love it!
Of course, this series is in a close tie with her 'Others' series which is an alternate reality of our world where shapeshifters and elementals are determining how things are run.
There there is Laurell K. Hamilton's new book, Smolder. And once again, a good and SPICY read. Anita and Jean-Claude are nearing their wedding date and welcome back into the 'family' someone who has been missing for a while. And an old vampire who is set on bringing them down.
So I have been bingeing on almost 900 pages between the two books. Sorry huge pile of library books I need to read!
Both books are really good (in my opinion). Unfortunately, if you are new to either author, I have to send you back to book 1 in each series. These are definitely books you need to read from the very start in order for a lot of what goes on to make sense. But it will definitely be worth the journey.
NOTE: If you decide to give the book series a try, I do have to mention there are a few trigger warnings in both series, sexual assault being one. Anne Bishop is much less graphic than Hamilton. Of course, if you are interested in hot, polyamorous sex, Hamilton is your go-to gal!
