Week in Review - April 17 - 23, 2023

It's been a busy week!

The garden is really starting to bloom. More is getting planted every day. However, the weather is so up and down. One day it's 83 and the next 63. So if I'm confused, the poor plants are like 'we give up'!

Tuesday was an afternoon drive down to South Carolina to watch Lady K and her 4th grade play. It was all about the Revolutionary War - very patriotic. The kids did a really great job. Lady K had a singing solo. It was cute, but meant a leaving here at 3 p.m. and getting home about 9 p.m. But worth it.

Thursday was also a fun and crazy day. The Master Gardeners of Gaston County at their monthly meeting had my good friend, NCTomatoMan! It was a great talk and I came home with a new cross tomato. I'll actually be visiting him in a couple of weeks to pick up more plants. Maybe by then I'll have my own tomatoes in the ground - depending on this crazy weather we have been having.

I managed to read and write up two posts for book blog tours. I have at least 4 more to do in the coming couple of months.

And, with Savvy in mind, I signed up as a volunteer for the Western Carolina Homebrewers Festival. I can't wait until this coming Saturday afternoon, even though I'm not much of a beer drinker.

With 'home brewing' in mind, I pulled out my meads and wines which have been sitting for almost a year now. I gave some to Texter and Mr. Cobra, along with Lady K's dad and step-mom. I opened the Blueberry Mead, which was one of my first brews. It's sweet, but not bad. So right now if you open my fridge door, it looks like I may have a drinking problem! But I have to say, a small glass of mead or wine in the evening does sit rather well.

Otherwise this week...

  • 5 posts written
  • 2 books finished, but there are at least 5 books in progress!
  • Worked 32 hours this week
  • Picked up Lady K for the weekend with her mom

This coming week...

  • Going to an assisted living facility to help set up their raised planters
  • Visit from Miss Texas
  • Master Gardeners class will be about propagation with plants to bring home!
  • Western Carolina Homebrewers Festival
  • More gardening - planting, tidying, weeding

But for now, it's more coffee and out into the yard before work.
