Writing Wednesday - Focus on Blogging Planner

I use my planner daily. It's my support system - my crutch.

However, keeping track of what I want to write here has been difficult over the years. Especially for planning ahead of what I want to write about or need to follow up on.

And after watching several videos from planner people I follow, they all have 'social media' calendars where they track what they are doing. In most cases this planner is separate from their main calendar, mainly due to the amount of detail they need to include.

So why couldn't I do the same for planning my writing here?

I had a 'Day Free' planner from Hobonichi which I have had all year, but never really used for anything. So I pulled it out and set up it with one day per page until December 31.

I included my daily 'theme' on the page with the date. For things I know I already want to write about I included it on the appropriate date. For example, my 'Encyclopedia of Me', I have the letter I need to write about on the date it needs to be posted. Plus I have room to jot down notes on what I want to include or pictures I need to come up with.

And like the above example, I agreed to a blog tour for a book in October and my review date is the 22 October. However, it is also the day for 'P'. So I move it to the day before which is Writing Wednesday normally. It works for me and I have a reminder of the review I need to do.

Since I have been using this system for the past week, once the post is written and scheduled I cross out that page. Done. Finished.

So for 2021 I took my Techo planner (my little one) and included the Day Free planner for notes in the same cover. Even though it is still 2020, there are things I want to follow up on in 2021 already. So while I am recuperating the next six weeks, I plan on taking one day to go through 15 years of blog posts and see where I need to follow up on posts.

I am really happy with this set-up and pleased with the flow into 2021.

Note: Happy Birthday to me! At the hospital having surgery. Eat cake for me!
